Degree programme objectives

Studies in this field aim at the education of outstanding talents and personalities for their future application as teachers in schools, in music schools and in extracurricular activities, so that they will be able to participate in raising the cultural knowledge of children, the education of a sophisticated audience through their own interpretive experience, and to search for and educate professional trainees (artistically or artistic-educationally oriented) in their field. The subject expertise consists of interpretation-oriented disciplines, basic methodology and didactics, and the history of the subject.

The aims of the studies are:

-to develop skills and abilities in the field of voice and singing education with the aim of future development in practice - e.g. in the area of artistic activity

-to educate graduates who are able to become guarantors of cultural life and activities in their sphere of work.

-to educate graduates who have a basic vocational education with a subject-didactic element and are ready to study for a Master's degree in the area of vocal training.

  • Objectives

  • Learning Outcomes

    After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

    • musically interpretive singing skills allowing a public presentation at a professional level
    • basic knowledge of a practical, theoretical and methodological character, allowing the technical and interpretive skills of students to develop
    • organizational skills in organizing public school performances
    • ability to reflect a musical life, exercising an independent evaluative judgement with an attempt to inspire students in this sense
    • the ability to educate the participants involved in the regional musical life

  • Occupational Profiles of Graduates
    Graduates are fully qualified as a teacher's assistant, instructor at free-time centres, as an educator in youth centres, an educator in after-school clubs, and in various civic associations involved in educational activities.

  • Rules and Conditions for the Creation of a Study Plan
    The standard duration of the studies is six semesters. For admittance to the final state examination students must obtain a total of 180 ECTS credits from required, selective and elective courses. Required courses constitute the basis of the discipline. Out of the optional courses students choose according to their interests and intended professional specialization. For all students there is an obligation to complete at least one course taught in English from the ones on offer at the department for the given level of studies.

    During the course of their studies students should follow the "Study catalogue" for their year of matriculation. They can access the "Study catalogues" through the faculty website.

  • Practical Training
    Practical training accompanied by supervision is an obligatory part of the curriculum for this field. The assistant teaching practice and seminars are implemented in cooperation with the Department of Education.
  • Goals of Theses
    Bachelors thesis consists of practical and theoretical parts.

    The practical part is made up of a Bachelor's concert, a teoretical part focused on organization, promotion, dramaturgical and interpretive preparation.

  • Access to Further Studies
    The graduate of the Bachelor's degree in a combination of fields of study with a focus on education can continue in the Master's studies in Music Education and Voice Education
