Prerequisites
The course is meant for students of the Medical faculty, regardless of the year of studies or study programmes. Students of the Faculty of arts interested in medical French are also welcome. The course is not for complete beginners, the B1 language level of CEFR is required.

Course objectives
The course focusses on specific language knowledge and skills typical of student at the B1 level and higher. At the end of the course students should be able to - describe and explain terms related to body systems, their organs, functions and disorders - use practical medical vocabulary (namely the language of communication in hospital, surgery, and when examining patients; language of describing treatment, medication, medical instruments, and machines) - apply medical language in doctor-patient communication, interpret medical texts, create medical documentation - use grammatical structures typical for medical language

Assessment methods
Attendance is compulsory. Two absences are tolerated provided a letter of excuse is handed in at the Department of Studies. It is highly recommended to make up for the absence in the same week. Assessment is based on the results of the credit test (score - minimum 65%) and attendance. Students get two credits for successful completion of the course.
