- Course objectives
- Lectures are devoted to those students who are interested in understanding of basic principles of quantum mechanics with an emphasis on quantum information processing. After a short historical introduction and physical motivation, mathematical formalism of a non-relativistic quantum theory will be presented.
- Syllabus
- After a short historical introduction and physical motivation, mathematical formalism of a non-relativistic quantum theory (state spaces of physical systems, Hilbert spaces and linear spaces) will be presented. After this other aspects of quantum theory, such as quantum-mechanical measurements, open systems and density operators, quantum entanglement and Bell inequalities, dynamics of quantum systems, symmetries and conservation laws will be discussed. A special attention will be paid to quantum nonlocality and its application to quantum information processing.
