Course objectives
This course is taught at Bachelor's degree program. It represents an introduction to selected areas of mental hygiene. Discussion and one's own experience are emphasized. At the end of this course, students should be able to:
- think about psychic and physical load in the context of stress concept and coping strategies;
- perceive psychosomatic connections more sensitively;
- apply findings of mental hygiene about way of living, work, interpersonal relationships and other areas of selt-management;
- practice relaxation technique of one's own choice, to choose a suitable technique on the basis of one's own direct experience with various types of techniques.

  • 1. Mental hygine as a field of study, stress (introduction), psychosomatics
  • 2. Stress (physiological and psychological approach), adaptation, coping strategies
  • 3. Way of living, mental hygiene at work
  • 4. Burn-out syndrome
  • 5. "I" in relationships – borders, communication, assertivity
  • 6. Decision making, self-management, will, suggestions from positive psychology
  • SEMINARS
  • 1. Psychosomatic connections
  • 2. Relaxation techniques (progressive relaxation, autogenous training)
  • 3. The technique of "quadruple anchoring"
  • 4. Emotion management, regulation of thought (discussion)
  • 5. Dialogical techniques of mental hygiene
  • 6. Yoga (practical demonstration)
  • Continuously: other relaxation techniques
