Course objectives
The course focuses on psychological work with people and teams within an organization. The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge and skills that will help them to increase the effectiveness of psychological work with employees from the moment of their first contact with a future employer till the end of their career in an organization. Students will learn how to select and retain employees effectively and how to enhance both individual and team performance.

The key part of the curriculum is to learn basic theories of personnel psychology, discuss their possible application, and train application of methods and procedures used in practice. Students also learn where and how to find up-to-date and valid information to broaden their knowledge, as well as to critically reflect on the information.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students will be able to:
a. define work psychology, describe core values of work psychology;
b. apply work psychology theory and knowledge;
c. understand how to critically evaluate theory and research in work psychology;

d. describe and apply criteria used for personnel selection;
e. outline and apply the personnel selection design and validation process;
f. describe and use different job analysis techniques;
g. list personnel selection methods and specify their advantages and disadvantages;
h. compare different methods of assessing work performance and name their advantages and disadvantages;
i. describe core approaches to motivation and explain how they could affect productivity at work;
j. evaluate different motivation systems;
k. explain how learning theories can be used to inform the training design;
l. identify potential barriers to the successful transfer of learning to the workplace and how these might be addressed;
m. evaluate different models of training evaluation;
n. explain factors that influence team performance;
