Kurz Konflikty hodnot a zájmů I. (a jeho pokračovatel Konflikty hodnot a zájmů II.) vychází ze spojení dřívějších kurzů Etnické konflikty a Konflikty o suroviny. V tomto kurzu je studentům v úvodních hodinách představen teoretický základ, následují případové studie vybraných konfliktů. Kurzy Konflikty hodnot a zájmů I a II jsou sice tematicky propojené, ovšem splnění jednoho není podmínkou pro přihlášení či absolvování druhého. Studenti tak mohou absolvovat oba postupně a v libovolném pořadí (doporučuje se ovšem začít I.), nebo pouze jeden z nich.

Course objectives
The course aims to introduce the phenomenon of ethnic conflicts. The participants will get a basic knowledge about theoretical concepts, terms and categories which are connected to the research of ethnic conflicts. The main focus of the course lies in the particular case studies.

Development and dynamics of inter-ethnic realtions in post-communist area 4. Development and dynamics of inter-ethnic realtions in post-communist area 5. Causes of inter-ethnic conflict – case study Naghorno Karabach 6. Dynamics of inter-ethnic armed conflict – Georgia - Abkhazia 7. Reading week 8. Intra-state and economic dimension of the conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina 9. Asymetric conflic - case study Chechenya 10. Conflict in Kosovo - etnocultural dichotomy ( 11. „Weak state" ethnic conflict - a case of Macedonia 12. Comparative conclusion
