- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce students the most common aspects of the work of school psychologist with a focus on deepening practical skills wia case studies and model situations from practices. Upon completion of the course, the student should have a variety of specific techniques and procedures for the work of a school psychologist with various clients - with a child, a small group of children, a school class - in various contracts.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, students should be able to a) describe the specific techniques and methods used by the school psychologist in practice in various contracts with different clients, including their benefits and possible risks; b) analyze problems in the field of school practice and choose an appropriate diagnostic and intervention technique when working with an individual, class and a small group of children; c) create a work plan for the school psychologist; d) consider the ethical aspects of the school psychologist's work with individual clients.
- Syllabus
- 1) Work of a school psychologist with an individual (examples of possible contracts, use of various techniques and their benefits and risks, work with a sandplay, therapeutic cards, etc.) 2) Special pedagogical aspects of the work of a school psychologist (correction of specific learning disorders, recommendations in case of school immaturity in various areas, etc.). 3) Work with a small group of children (self-development groups at school). 4) Work with the class at the first level (examples of specific techniques and programs with the class for various contracts, diagnostics of class - examples of methods, administration and evaluation of methods, problems in administration, work with diagnostic results, etc.). 5) Work with the class at the second level (examples of specific techniques and programs with the class for various contracts, diagnostics of class - examples of methods, administration and evaluation of methods, problems in administration, work with diagnostic results, etc.). 6) Other (other frequent contracts from a school psychologist, work with teachers, cooperation with other professionals, etc.).
