Real interest in the specific issue of the subject, inventive cognition skills, high level of analytic skills, good knowledge of English or German is advantage. Letter of motivation required. Course objectives
The programme includes comprehensive information on equal treatment and prohibition of discrimination in the Czech national law and EU law from both, practical and theoretical point of view. It is realised in cooperation with the Office of the Public Defender of Rights. The particular lessons are tough by employees of this Office or by its external experts. After acquitting of essential theoretical information, practice of knowledge in the form of solution of model situations is the significant part of the programme. Hereinafter, the programme includes solution of particular cases in which the discrimination is argued by the claimants under supervision of lawyers from Department of Equal Treatment of the Office of the Public Defender of Rights. At the end of the course, students will be able to apply general theoretical basis including relevant case-law in practice.

  • 1. Opening lesson, introduction. Race and ethnicity as a crucial grounds related to Anti-discrimination law. 2. Gender as a key prohibited discrimination ground. 3. Key cases of Supreme Court of USA. 4. Crucial cases of ECHR.Comparisson to ECJ (ECEU) 5.Indirect discrimination, Intent of discrimination as a crucial element of indirect discrimination. Dignity as a esence of discrimination? 6. Evidence and proving in discrimination cases. Key cases of Equality body - The Czech Public defender of Rights.
