Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: define basic conception and notions,principles and sources of the NGO law in European context; place NGO law to the system of law; categorize legal persons generally and also NGOs characterize types of legal persons - association, foundation, institution; interpret the "European approach" to NGOs; express own opinion about the tendencies of development of the legal regulation NGO law in the Czech Republic and in European context.

  • 1. The term „Non-profit organisation“, Theorectical background of the NGO law in the European context 2. Categorization of the NGO´s 3 - 4. The Association – characteristics, purpose, establishment, winding up 5. Membership in the Association 6.- 7. The Foundation, the Endowment fund - characteristics, purpose, establishment, winding up 8. The Public benefit Institution - characteristics, purpose, establishment, winding up 9. Internal governance of NGO´s 10. Internal and external (state) supervision 11. Sources of financing of NGO´s sector 12. Position of foreign and international NGO´s in the Czech Republic

Teaching methods
There are 12 sessions. The content of the lectures is covers the topic of NGO from the general point of view, is focused on basic definitions, principles of NGOs; lectures are supplemented by the individual studies - by reading books, multimedial study texts, judicature and e-learning.
