Course objectives
The purpose of the subject is primarily to arouse interest in the topics and open a way to critical thinking on responsibility under international law, use of force and enforcement of international law.
Learning outcomes
Doctoral student should be able to understand fundamental principles of international responsibility of states and other subjects of international law, use of force and enforcement of international law. Doctoral student should be able to think critically about international responsibility, use of force and enforcement of international law. He or she should be able to assess the difference between international responsiblity and responsibility under EU and national law. After passing the subject, the level of doctoral student's argumentation should raise.

  • 1/International Responsiblity - the conceptual issues 2/A focus on responsibility of states, international organizations and individuals 3/Methodological approaches to international responsiblity Immunity of states and international organizations 4/Use of force -preconditions 5/The problems related to enforcement of international law 6/(including a discussion whether international law is really "law")
Teaching methods
Self-study, writing, discussion, problem-solving.
Assessment methods
1. An essay of 10 pages 2. presentation of the outcome of the essay (20 minutes) 3. A paper of 5 pages resolving a practical problem submitted by the teacher.
