Course objectives
Main objectives can be summarized as follows: to acquire of the basic knowledges about institutes of the general part of criminal substantive law;
to acquire of the basic knowledges about institutes of the general part of criminal process law. At the end of the course students should be able to: understand and explain basic concepts of criminal substantive law and process law; create a text on the criminal law topic; interpret and use the basic concepts of the both criminal law departments;
Learning outcomes
Upon completition of the course, the students will be able to: - understand the purpouse of criminal law as a legal field - place criminal law properly in the legal system - identify basic sources of criminal law's legal regulation - understand basic principles of criminal law and their meaning - understand basic concepts and legal institutes of both substantive and procedural criminal law - orientate themselves in the matter of general part of substantive and procedural part of criminal law and identify informational and legal sources, where they might find more detailed questions
Syllabus
  • Basic concepts: concept, functions and basic principles of criminal substantive law (adults and juveniles); fundaments of criminal liability of legal entities.
  • Scope of applicability of criminal laws
  • Fundamentals of criminal responsibility.
  • The legal consequnces of the fundamentals of criminal responsibility (punishments, protective measures, measures for juveniles).
  • Concept, functions and basic principles of criminal process law / criminal procedure (adults, juveniles and legal entities).
  • Subjects of criminal proceedings
  • Procedural acts, mesures securing persons and things in criminal proceedings, decisions in criminal proceedings
  • Evidence in criminal proceedings, division of evidence, evidence proceedings
