Course objectives
The aim is to provide basic knowledge and skills in the field of nutrition important for determining nutritional needs in health and disease.Student obtains information on the principles of a healthy diet, the recommended daily dose of essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals in health and disease, the adequacy of their food sources.The module is also dietetics and evaluation of energy balance and body options its influence.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to evaluate the energy balance and body options its influence, nutritional history of the patient within nursing process.
Syllabus
  • 1.Carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals, trace elements 2.Energy balance, food pyramid, 24-h recall, drinks 3.Nutrition newborns, infants and children. Nutrition in adolescence, adult nutrition 4. Nutrition in old age 5. Eating disorders - obesity, anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa 6. Alternative nutrition, hospital diet system 7. Patients nutrition, nutrition specifics in resuscitation and intensive care, parenteral nutrition.
