Course objectives
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the specifics of nutrition of children in the whole spectrum of age categories including nutrition of the pre-conception period and with emphasis on neonatal nutrition and nutritional screening in paediatrics. Learning outcomes of the course unit The subject will deepen the knowledge and extend the knowledge of clinical nutrition needed to provide specialized nutritional care in children (especially in GIT, specialized nutritional procedures and interventions in pediatric patients with hereditary metabolic disorders and malnutrished children).
Learning outcomes
After this course on the basis of acquired knowledge the student will be able to determine the nutritional diagnosis, objectives and solutions, review, including education of a child patient, also use this information for the prevention of, where nutrition in childhood plays an important role.
Syllabus
  • Evaluation of the nutritional status of patients, formulation of nutritional care plans due to the particularities of pediatric patients, conducting medical consultations in the field of good nutrition, making individual nutritional practices for metabolic disorders and other serious conditions, communication with pediatric patients and their families and the education of pediatric patients and their parents field of therapeutic nutrition, nutritional history, monitoring the amount of food eaten and its evaluation, needs assessment and create a plan of nutrition care for patients with acute symptoms of metabolic and allergic diseases, evaluation of somatic and nutritional risks with subsequent documentation, compilation and assessment of individual dietary regimens for metabolic disorders and allergic diseases, monitoring of drinking regime, recommending changes in the way feeding, performing calculations, enteral nutrition and nutritional support.
