The prerequisite for this seminar is knowledge of the basic principles of the EBHC approach and practical skills in Evidence Base Practice acquired in the previous courses MZEB0131p and MZEB0131s. - Course Enrolment Limitations

- The aim of the seminar is to build on the knowledge and skills acquired in the course Evidence Based Healthcare and Principles of Systematic Review II - lecture, seminar. Specifically, students will learn about standardized tools for critical appraisal of studies and data extraction.

- Students can critically appraise primary studies using a selected standardized tool and extract data for subsequent meta-analysis or meta-synthesis of a systematic review.

- REQUIREMENTS TO OBTAIN THE CREDIT:
1. Attendance to seminars/practices during the semester (see point 2).
2. Absences will be tolerated just due to medical reasons - Students must provide appropriate documentation or medical excuse. Students must be aware that even with justified absences (medical explanation), a minimum of 80% attendance is required to obtain the credit. In case a student has more than 20 % justified/unjustified absences, he/she will have to repeat the course in the following school year. In case of unjustified absence (per each one), a 1,500-2,000 word seminar paper and a 5-8 minute presentation on the seminar paper topic will be given. If the seminar paper is rejected due to deficiencies and it is not corrected and submitted again, the student will not fulfil with the subject’s requirements, and he / she will not get the credit (See Absence and latecomer policy, Academic misconduct, plagiarism detection and unethical issues).
