- Course objectives
- The subject is the only one of the basic pillars of teaching, it contains the content of basic philosophy of nursing. The course is designed as theoretical. It defines nursing as a modern science discipline with its own philosophy, value system, investigation, theoretical models, terminologies, classification systems and methodologies. The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the concept of nursing, philosophy of nursing, the historical development, the role of the nurse and the patient, metaparadigma of nursing, selected conceptual models and theory of nursing, the main tasks and functions of nursing in society with the current trend of progressive development, which can increase the effectiveness of health systems and ensure the health care of the population. The course also focuses on Transcultural Nursing. The transcultural approach of a nurse in nursing care is important. The aim is to understand the basic principles of transcultural nursing, to define the cultural competencies of healthcare professionals, to identify the specifics of providing care for nationalities, ethnic and religious groups living in the Czech Republic or coming to the European Union.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course, student will be able to: - orientate in classification systems in nursing, - work with nursing documentation, - describe the basic characteristics of ethnic, national and religious groups living in the Czech Republic, - explain the influence of faith, religion, culture, traditions, customs, values, ethics, etc. in transcultural nursing, - respect the values of the patient and her/his family, - to meet the specific needs of patients in the provision of nursing care from the national, ethnic and religious point of view, - apply the acquired knowledge in clinical practice.
