Course objectives
The course brings the basic knowledge of drama in education field for students and its possibilities of it´s using in education. Students learn the concepts, methods and techniques of drama education, which should contribute to their professional development and cultivating their own teaching skills. The aim is to introduce the drama and its potential in training and education. Studying the course students learn selected approaches (theater in education, structured drama, tutorial), based on their practical experience design their own educational unit, and find the best form of his record. Completion of this course expands students practical experience with an emphasis on building their own pedagogical style and approach to teaching.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student will be able to: understand the field of drama education in the context of the arts, education and psychology; explain the concept of drama in education; use dramatic games, exercise, and selected methods in their teaching work with students; create drama in education lessons / educational unit on a given subject and object; interpret literature from drama in education field
Syllabus
  • History of drama in education and its current position in the system of basic education in Czech Republic. Values and goals of drama. Pedagogical-psychological and artistic standpoints of drama in education. Training games and exercises. Games for familiarization, relaxation, warming up. Games training camp. Games on the development of verbal and non-lingual communication. Games on the development of sensory perception. Games on spatial feeling. Games on the development of fantasy and imagination. Games on the development of partnerships and group sensitivity. Methods and techniques of drama education. Structured drama play. Construction of drama in education lessons / teaching unit.
