Course objectives
Theory and practice of behavioral disorders education, educational processes in behavioral disorders education and its main aims, professional terminology; cause factors of behavioral disorders, development of problems and disorders in behavior, interaction of an individual with emotion and behavioral disorder; classification of behavioral disorders, problems of definitions; historical development and current trends in approaching children at-risk of developing emotion or behavioral disorders; behavioral disorders connected with ADD+,-, and minimal brain damage; system of educational facilities for institutional and protective care and preventive educational care; legal framework of foster care.
Syllabus
  • 1. Theory of behavioral disorders education its object, levels of research; its position in special education; differences from other special education disciplines; relation with cooperative disciplines 2. Current concept of behavioral disorders education, inclinations and trends general changes in behavioral disorders education, new approaches and solutions 3. Principles of educating individuals with emotional and behavioral disorders 4. Behavioral disorders education as a special education process aims, tasks, basis 5. Tasks of behavioral disorder education in individual phases of special education process, forms of implementation 6. Professional terminology, its development, differences in Czech terminology, international and Czech terminology, current trends 7. Defining behavioral disorders definition development problems, criteria for classifying definitions, educational definition of behavioral disorders 8. Historical development and current trends in approaching children at-risk of developing emotional or behavioral disorders 9. Approaching individuals with emotional and behavioral disorders range of the problem, features disrupting interaction of individuals with emotional and behavioral disorders 10. Cause factors of behavioral or emotional disorders personality of a child (developmental risks, intellect, emotions, temperament, development), social factors (school, family, peers) 11. School as a risk factor of problematic behavior assessment, motivation for learning, teaching efficiency, conditions and means of education 12. Family as a risk factor of problematic behavior 13. Characteristics of a student with problematic behavior, characteristics of a student with behavioral disorder 14. Education of students with behavioral disorders in regular schools and special schools 15. Institute of foster care, institutional substitutive parental care - system of educational facilities for institutional and protective care
