- Course objectives
- An introduction to children's and juvenile literature in English; further focus on books for young readers.In the end of the course, students should be able to select proper English books for their classes and speak about selected genres.

- September 19, topic: introduction, requirements, a book friendly environment.
- September 26, topic: children’s literature and its study; a brief history of children’s and juvenile literature; milestones of books for children.
- October 3, topic: „milestones“ discussed.
- October 10, topic: block teaching, no regular classes.
- October 17, topic: test I; nursery rhymes.
- October 24, topic: modern poetry for children.
- October 31, topic: folk and fairy tales.
- November 7, topic: picture books.
- November 14, topic: test II; animal stories.
- November 21, topic: fantasy.
- November 28, topic: boys, girls and adventure stories.
- December 75, topic: simplified books; promoting reading.
- December 12, topic:, test III; building a class book-corner.
- December 19, topic: block teaching, no regular classes.

- Requirements:
Pass three inclass tests (30 %).
Take part in class discussions (20 %).
Read assigned books, keep a reading diary, discuss the reading with the instructor (50 %).
