- Course objectives
- By the end of this lecture student will be able to manage systeme of czech phonetic and phonology and its standard, cultured form. Student will be able to explain the fundamental phonetic a phonemic concepts and terms, with the orthophonic and orthoepic principles, of the system of vowels and consonants, students. Students will be able to explain the syllable structure, segmentation of the continuous speech and variants of the phonemes in the speech. The students will master the information on the methodology of the analysis of the spoken speech and on the methods of the finding of the phonemes. Students recognise some Czech and abroad linguists, who deals with phonetics and phonology and will be able to to interpret their thoughts. (structuralism and F. de Saussure; Trubeckoj; The Prague linguistic circle, M. Weingart, M. Romportl, B. Hála).

- 1. Fundamental concepts of phonetic and phonology. 2. Orthophony and orthoepie. 3. Vowels, consonants. 4. Structure of the syllables. 5. Segmentation of the continuous speech. Phonemic variants in the speech. 6. The literary Czech pronunciation. Graphemes.

- Lecture combined with subsequent discussion on the professional issues of the course based on the newest linguistic literature.
- Assessment methods
- Written test at the end of the term consisting of 20 questions. The test will cover the topics mentioned in the syllabus of the subject. Students need to gain at least 70%
