Course objectives
Students will work on improving their English in all four major skill groups: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The materials used will be provided on the moodlinka course and in paper form at the copy centre. At the end of the course, the students will be able to interpret complex texts and make deductions based on acquired knowledge, lead a discussion, and express their ideas meaningfully in a written form.

  • The topics covered will be: teaching vocabulary, teaching pronunciation, writing development, teaching grammar, using portfolios, error correction, using music, reading with a purpose.

Teaching methods
The teaching method will be class discussions, group presentations, weekly reading, writing, and listening exercises.
Assessment methods
Course Requirements: Attendance is highly recommended but not mandatory.
One essay
One presentation
Three quizzes on reading and grammar covered in Units 8-10. These quizzes will have 10 questions for 10 percent each. the average of all three quizzes must be at least 70 percent in order to pass the course.
Homework and preparation as advised.
All the above mentioned assignments are part of the continuous assessment.
Final exam at the end of the semester will consiste of a written and oral parts. The written exam will include three parts - grammar and vocabulary, reading comprehension and listening comprehension. The passmark is 70 percent of points. The oral part will include a short conversation about an assigned topic between the examiners and the student.
