Course objectives
Students will work on improving their English in all four major skill groups: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The materials used will be provided on the moodlinka course and in paper form at the copy centre. At the end of the course, the students will be able to interpret complex texts and make deductions based on acquired knowledge, lead a discussion, and express their ideas meaningfully in a written form. There will be a presentation in which students are expected as future teachers to be able to prepare a short lesson for the other students.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students be able to: understand spoken English at C1 level understand and react to a written text at C1 level speak English at C1 level write in English at C1 level - both formal and informal language create a piece of work with a child appropriate for the child's age and ability in English make a portfolio of their work discuss basic methodology topics for teaching English
Syllabus
  • The topics covered will be: teaching vocabulary, teaching pronunciation, writing development, teaching grammar, using portfolios, error correction, using music, reading with a purpose.

The teaching method will be class discussions, group presentations, weekly reading, writing, and listening exercises.

The remaining 50 points can be gained in the oral exam. The examination will be taken in pairs, and students will be asked about what they have read during the semester and will be expected to comment on and express their own opinions about the texts. You will also be asked to comment on your portfolio this semester.
