Course objectives
The course objective is to provide doctoral students with the latest knowledge in the field of psycholinguistics and develop their professional skills; to lead them to a deeper understanding of psychological and neurophysiological mechanisms and principles when developing foreign language skills.
Syllabus
  • The course of Applied psycholinguistics is a core subject of the linguistic section and at the same time the starting point for its integration with the didactic and pedagogical-psychological sections. The course objective is to provide doctoral students with the latest knowledge in the field of psycholinguistics and develop their professional skills; to lead them to a deeper understanding of psychological and neurophysiological mechanisms and principles when developing foreign language skills, to understand the role of cognitive and emotional factors as well the role of teachers/students personality which influence the effectiveness of these processes. Course content: Neurophysiological and psychological factors which influence the creation of language representations and enhance language skills. Developmental and individual differences in a foreign language acquisition. Language perception, production, communication. Humanisation of foreign language teaching. Topics to cover: • Activity of the brain and foreign language learning • Cognitive processes (perception, memory) and foreign language learning • Developmental irregularities in foreign language learning • Individual differences in foreign language learning • Process of communication • Learner-centred approach in foreign language learning.
