Course objectives
The seminar in the form of selected topics provides students with the opportunity to learn about modern methods of teaching literature at secondary schools. The emphasis is put on methods of work with a text (analysis, interpretation and reproduction). The seminar will also present new trends in the field of creativity (creative writing and its use in a literature class).

Teaching methods
In the form of a seminar (interpretations and analyses of selected works), students will get a deeper insight into literary trends and movements of Czech poetry and prose, as well as into the specific nature of their poetics. They will be able to identify and analyze the style of outstanding personalities of Czech poetry and prose, significant for the particular period. Students will further develop their literary knowledge and interpretational skills with the aim to communicate with a literary work more efficiently. They will creatively use their knowledge gained not only in contact classes but also in their individual study of recommended literature which they will be able to discuss regularly with their teacher.
Assessment methods
Type of course: seminar. Type of completion: credit. Credit requirements: written assignment - evaluation of a chosen set of textbooks (readers, anthologies and other didactic material)from the point of view of basic parameters, contents (verbal and non-verbal aspects) and layout (features of management and orientation) of a particular textbook, on micro-level selected aspects only. Active participation in seminars.
