Course objectives
The aim of the course "Fundamentals of Supervision in Assisting Professions" is to grasp the basic principles of supervision as a natural part of the work in assisting professions, to acquire the theoretical bases of supervision and to familiarize with the practical aspects of the supervising process, including selected knowledge and skills. The subject is not only taught theoretically, it includes the creation of an interview group related to the practice in seniors. Through the interview process, students should learn how to use the tools available to supervisors to help workers, and allow them to use supervision for their own benefit and benefit. The subject does not provide supervision training, but allows qualitatively supervised supervision as a quality tool in assisting professions, whether in the role of the recipient, the sponsor or the collegiate support.

  • 1. Introduction to the subject: Supervision as a tool for increasing the professional competence of a worker in helping professions and client protection. 2. Assisting professions; worker in helping professions - motivations of help, job risks. 3. The concept of supervision, delimitation of supervision and differentiation from similar disciplines. 4. Supervisory goals. 5. Classification of supervision according to individual criteria. 6. Supervisory functions: Supportive (restorative), educational (formative, developmental, management functions (normative, administrative, control, supervision). 7. Development of supervision in foreign countries and Czech lands. 8. The current position of supervision in helping professions and social services, legislative anchoring; training in supervision. 9. Supervision process: Supervisory relationship, supervisor: Supervisor, supervisor. Work Alliance - Working Alliance Relationship. 10. Supervision contract. 11. Ethical aspects of supervision. Risks of supervision; obstacles to quality supervision. 12. Supervision as learning; ripening supervision. Using the principles of lifelong learning in supervision. Deploying supervision in an organization as a learning process.
