Cíle předmětu
The students, mostly practising teachers in schools, will reflect on their teaching and develop areas that are problematic for them individually. They will also prepare materials for their final examination. They will consolidate their current knowledge and extend it as they will be getting acquainted with the latest trends in ELT methodology.
Výstupy z učení
After this course the students will be able to:
- specify their needs as English teachers
- look at their own teaching style critically and set their own aims to develop their teaching
- give constructive feedback to their peers and accept the feedback from their peers
- investigate and apply theoretical principles of TEFL
- choose, adapt and evaluate materials for their teaching

  • 1. Teaching vocabulary
  • 2. Teaching grammar
  • 3. Teaching pronunciation
  • 4. Language learning and cultural awareness (incl. the intercultural communicative competence)
  • 5. Modern technologies in the classroom (related to the digital competences as conceived in the Strategy 2030+)

Active participation in seminars, sharing practical examples, self-study tasks, observations in schools, microteaching
Metody hodnocení
The students will be formally assessed on:
- setting up a future action plan for their professional development (written assignment submitted at the end of the term);
- group discussion about final exam topics based on the content of the students' portfolios.
Informal assessment will include:
- active participation in the sessions including microteaching and contribution to the online discussion forums.
