Course objectives
The aim is to acquire the theoretical knowledge about human communication and to learn to apply them in model situations. Students also learn scientific (social) analysis of social communication with respect to the context. Communication skills training is designed for both standard and non-standard situations.
Learning outcomes
- to understand the relationship between psycho-physical processes and communication - to get acquainted with the main principles of communication - to apply these resources on their own way of communication
Syllabus
  • Topics: 1. Introduction to Communication, Communication, Symbols, Media, Language, Speech, Font, Morse Alphabet 2. Social communication social communication system, types of social communication, development trends in communication of information 3. Verbal and non-verbal communication, mimics, visual communication, gestures and posters, haptics and posturology, proxemics, kinetics, communication with the outside and acting (chronemics) 4. The influence of mass communication on the nature of television as a source of social change, television and its ability to manipulate the audience, the future of mass media in a globalized society, social media mediated communication, communication in advertising 5. Speech development, social meaning of speech, speech disorders, communication process, communication components, word communication, dialogue 6. Assertiveness and types of assertiveness, assertiveness, assertive rights and principles, practice of assertive behavior, pros and cons of assertiveness 7. Paralyngistic components of speech 8. Psychology of interpersonal communication of functional groups of human communication, tactics of communication 9. Communication skills of social worker and psychotherapist. Healthy communication 10. Communication with the public, acting in public 11. Rhetorical assumptions and skills. Opportunities to train rhetoric
