- Course objectives
- This course prepares students to be able to use German scholarly texts in their studies as well as future professional life; it also develops their communication abilities in both spheres mentioned. Students work with written and recorded texts on B2 level with respect to specific features of the scholarly language in terms of lexical and stylistic devices as well as grammar. The course also involves giving presentations and writing abstracts, comments, essays and formal letters.

- Assessment methods
- Practical language B2 level course. Credit requirements: 1) Attendance (85%) 2) Submitted in-term assignments A) CV + covering letter (assigned in W 3, first draft due on W 6, second draft due on W 10) B) Master’s thesis abstract C) A brief background research on final thesis sources in English (must be submitted in IS.MUNI in written form prior to the exam) 3) Respecting all deadlines 4) Exam: 2 parts: A) written (4 parts: listening, reading comprehension, use of English, writing; level B2; 65%) B) oral (presentation of student’s bachelor’s or master’s thesis) (The final mark is based on the test score (70%) and oral exam (30%).
