The English course for intermediate students who can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc., who can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest, and can read texts and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans. - Course Enrolment Limitations

- Course objectives
- In the compulsorily-optional English for Social Educators Course the students will consolidate their language skills from secondary school (Pass in 'maturita' in English is required), and will learn some selected academic skills (oral presentation, supporting argument, discussion, summary, retrieval of key information etc.) in English. Successful students will be credited for active participation in the lessons, for oral and written presentations, and for a 70% pass in the test at the end of the semester.

Consultation 2 (26.3.2010) School Education in the Czech Republic compared with the U.K. and U.S. systems. (In-class discussion based on experience. Making a statement, arguing the point) Writing CV, Filling-in a form. HOMEWORK 2 - to be submitted by Wed 21st April 2010 to ODEVZDÁVÁRNA Write a reply to an advertisement (Letter of Application). Job interview tips) HOMEWORK 3 - PRESENTATION: ‘My Work and My Study’ (including social work web resources) to be submitted by Wed 12th May 2010 to ODEVZDÁVARNA (Current employment; basic information on Masaryk University Faculty of Education, courses description, opinion, etc.) Consultation 4 (14.5.2010) 21st century problems - environment, drug abuse, wars, terrorism, etc. Focus on social problems. Social work texts based on the web resources (Research carried out by the student) PRESENTATIONS – ‘My Work and My Study’ Consultation 5 (28.5.2010) 1) PRESENTATIONS – ‘My Work and My Study’ 2) FINAL TEST (Vocabulary and grammar revision. Composition – expressing opinion)
- Credit requirements: Active participation in the lessons. Presentations. The end-of-the-term test based on a special task (70% pass). The student who has not completed continuous assessments during the particular semester cannot be credited. (Student, který nemá splněné průběžné úkoly z jednotlivých témat v rámci daného semestru, nemůže získat kredity, ani zápočet)

Information on completion of the course: Pro úspěšné ukončení předmětu jsou předepsány v semestru průběžné kontroly, jejichž výsledky jsou započítávány do závěrečného hodnocení. Jazykovy kurz neni urcen pro zacatecniky
The course is taught annually.
General note: Předmět bude zapsán po udělení zápočtu za Vstupní test CJV_AJA2k, který si student zapíše v podzimním semestru, test na úrovni B1 složí v lednu, a předmět absolvuje v jarním semestru.
