Course objectives
The aim of this subject is to strengthen knowledge and acquire skills in work with cartographic materials, during the orientation and measurement in field with a help of topographic apparatus and GPS. After successful completion of this course, students are able to employ map in the countryside, sketch GPS and use it for thematic and topographic mapping, work with total station Nikon, restate distances and angles in a terrain and design a topographic plan
Syllabus
  • 1. Meet particular topographic and cartographic workplaces.
  • 2. Measurement with total station, creation of a topographic plan.
  • 3. Parcel location via orthogonal methods.
  • 4. Creation of a geographical sketch by means of forward intersection method.
  • 5. Practical activities with a map, orientation with regard to points of the compass, azimuthing.
  • 6. Working with GPS.
  • 7. Examination of knowledge during the movement orientation in an unknown terrain with a help of map and compass.
  • 8. Working in the Cartography Centre in Velké Opatovice.

Fieldwork Teaching – 4 days and then elaboration of materials (autonomous work), attendance required to complete this course successfully, active work on workplaces and completion of particular tasks and submitting final protocol according to instruction of teacher.
