- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students be able to:
- understand the functions of ecosystems of standing and running waters
- state basic characteristics of water
- characterize of standing and runnig water
- explain the cycle of substances in standing and runnig water
- name of communities of organisms of standing and runnig water
- understand water pollutions, acidification and eutrophication of surface water
- sample of water organisms
- determinate water organisms - Syllabus
- 1. Physical and chemical properties of the water, light, thermic regime, nutrient cycle.
- 2. Standing water: Characteristic, classification, communities of organisms.
- 3. Running water: Characteristic, classification, nutrient cycle, the river continuum concept, pollution and self-purification, communities of organisms.
- 4. Acidification and eutrophication.
- 5. Pollutions, human activity, sewage water.
