Course objectives
The goal of seminar is to systematize and consolidate knowledge of syntax of Russian; to exercise learning in course Syntax II topics on practical language material. The seminar will also focus on the similarities and differences at comparative Russian-Czech aspect. At the end of this course the student will be able to categorize syntactic phenomena of Russian language, to show differences in the construction of sentences in Russian and Czech languages, to apply creatively knowledge.
Syllabus
  • Word order. Comparison of word order in Russian and Czech language.
  • Analysis and classification of compound and complex sentences.
  • Determining of compound sentences.
  • Complex sentence. Syntactic analysis.
  • Determining of complex sentences with subordinate clauses.
  • Analysis and classification of asyndetic sentences.
  • Analysis of the sentences with different types of syntactic connection.
  • Practice of punctuation in complex and compound sentences.

Seminar. The student must regulary prepare for the seminar and do required home assignments. Individual and group work.

The credit requirements: 1. active participation in the class; 2. regular assessment and doing the required home assignments; 3. successful encompassment of written test.
