Course objectives

The subject aims to discuss some issues that Czech education might find challenging. Through reflection, discussion, cooperation and listening to/discussing matters with guest speakers, students will be given the opportunity to think about these issues and about the different angles these might be approached from, within or outside the system.

Syllabus

• 9.3. 1st block: Introduction + Getting to know each other + What is school, Learning as Experience, Multiple intelligences (Lucka) 2nd block: Unschooling (Míša) 10.3. - 5.4. 3rd block: your preparation for blocks 4 and 5 6.4. 4th block: Communication, Respect goes both ways, Freedom and guidance (Jana, Gábi) 5th block: Students present the results of their work (Jana, Gábi)

Assessment methods

1. Active participation BEFORE the lessons and in the lessons (to pass the course it is important for you to join us on both the dates) 2. Task for the last lesson - you can choose one of these three: a) Open task: Practical demonstration of the development of your educational values/expertise/thoughts (if based on a concrete experience, a concrete school, great). b) Observation + questionaire (visiting a school of your own choice and filling in the observation sheet with the aim of thinking about the particular aspects and discussing them in the last block) c) Shadowing (shadowing a teacher of your choice/shadowing a pupil of your choice)
