Course objectives
The aim of the course is to inform the undergraduates about the content of the language teaching in basic schools. The seminars focus on working out preparation for the lesson (including the motivation and feed-back), selecting suitable working methods and forms (various types of lessons), preparing some additional material: texts for practising individual grammar phenomena, suitable illustrations for demonstrations and explanations. The undergraduates can also compare a few types of textbooks and discuss their conceptions.
Learning outcomes
Students are able to prepare preparation for classes (including motivation and feedback), to choose suitable methods and forms of work (different types of lessons), to prepare additional material: texts for practicing individual phenomena, suitable illustration examples for interpretation of the substance. They can compare several types of textbooks and discuss their concepts.

  • 1 Didactics, its subject, its relationship to other disciplines. 2 Place of the Czech language in the curricula of all stages of our schools. 3 Aims of the Czech language and stylistic lessons. 4 Relationship among language, stylistic and fine literary teaching. 5 Didactic principles. 6 Personality of the teacher. 7 Content of teaching at the individual school stages. 8 Knowledge, skills and habits. 9 Teaching forms and methods. 10 Teaching aids.

Teaching methods
Methods based on intellectual operations (analysis, synthesis, etc.), the controlled interview, critical thinking and independent work, theoretical preparation, presentation preparation for teaching.
Assessment methods
The course is evaluated by "credit" (so called "zápočet" in Czech). Students will succeed if they present their group work at the seminar, and if they submit their written preparation for their teaching at primary school: minimum one lesson. Details will be specified at the seminar indeed.
