Course objectives
Students will be able to understand basic issues of the field, they will know basic concepts of literary education and of the curriculum, be able to explain the regularities of the process of literary communication and text reception, basic aspects of the process of literary education, and be able to recognize a wider spectrum of methods and forms of work.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student - will understand the basic issues of the theory of literary education; - will be able to explain the rules of the process of receiving an artistic text, - will understand the basic aspects of the process of literary education and the forms of didactic interpretation; - will be able to apply the gained theoretical knowledge in the conditions of the primary education.
Syllabus
  • 1. Literary education didactic as a science discipline, course related literature. 2. The process of literary text reception, literary communication. The process of literary education and its components (factors of education, literature). Functional, literary, cultural literacy. 3. The development of opinions on teaching literature at the elementary schools. Changes to reading-books as basic means of teaching, the functions of reading-books. 4. The concepts of literary education in primary schools as presented by current programs of education. Literary education in the FEP BE: FEP BE terminology in regards to the terminology of the field; objectives of literary education in regards to the educational field, areas and key competencies; literary education in the context of cross-curricular subjects and possible integration of educational content. 5. SEP and Standards of primary education. 6. Consolidation of reading techniques, diagnostic checks, reading with factual comprehension. 7. Teacher’s preparation for a literary education lesson and its components (literary science, psychology of education, methodology). Preparatory complex text interpretation. 8. The process of literary education and its phases, functions and methods of motivation. 9. Interpretation of an artistic text as one of the phases of the literary educational process, didactic interpretation as a method of problem solving. 10. Functions and methods of didactic interpretation and creativity. 11. Literary aesthetic activities – reproductive, productive (overview). 12. Extensive reading (selection, control), classes of the so-called current literary education. Student’s personality being cultured as a reader, film and television viewer.
