- Course objectives
- After completing this seminar the students will be able to interpret differences in pronunciation between German and Czech vowels, consonants, assimilation and suprasegmental phenomena of German pronunciation and characterize typical pronunciation mistakes made by Czech native speakers.
- Learning outcomes
- The student gains an overview of the system of German phones. He knows how to express the difference in pronunciation between Czech and German vowels, diphthongs, and consonants. He can characterize mistakes in pronunciation of Czech native speakers in German language. The student gains an overview of certain phenomenon of German pronunciation. He can apply this knowledge to improve his own pronunciation. He knows how to avoid typical mistakes in pronunciation made by native Czech speakers in standard German.

- Seminar; practice of pronunciation of German Phonemes different to Czech, assimilation and suprasegmental phenomena of German pronunciation. Homework, active independent study.
- Assessment methods
- Credit: Active participation during the seminar, students are supposed to master standard German and methods of unteaching typical mistakes in German pronunciation. Colloquium; The students are supposed to master German pronunciation, as well as the methodology of avoiding the typical pronunciation mistakes made by Czech native speaker. The aim of this subject is to practice the phonetics transcription. Term paper focused on a German transcribed text with comments from the phonetic point of view.
