- Course objectives
- The language component of the course is focused on the recognition and acquisition of methodical procedures and forms of work with language material in the conditions of learning the mother tongue during the secondary education. The literary component of the course introduces selected methodical procedures of working with a literary text at the secondary school. Also, it focuses on teaching materials – coursebooks and reading-book anthologies. The goal of the course is to familiarize the students with the forms of didactic transformation of the language and stylistic curriculum at secondary schools, utilizing teaching materials and working with a full variety of the curricular content of the literary component of the secondary school education.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will become familiar with the contents of the language and composition curriculum at secondary schools and they will be able to prepare for a teaching unit, apply their gained knowledge in regards to effective exposition of the new learning material, motivation and evaluation of the teaching process. Students will become familiar with a variety of literature teaching materials for secondary schools. They will be able to adapt the teaching materials to specific educational intents. Hey will be able to apply appropriate methodical approaches while working with imaginative literature as well as with the literary body of knowledge in order to teach literature at secondary schools.
- Syllabus
- Czech language: 1. The educational content of teaching language and composition at secondary schools. 2. Methods and forms of teaching language and composition, the organization of the lesson. 3. Types of language and composition-teaching lessons. 4. Preparing a language or composition-teaching lesson. 5. Motivation, feedback. 6. Additional materials: texts for practicing style, texts for the elicitation of curriculum, didactic games. 7. Topics of essays and correcting shortcomings of the students’ speech and writing. 8. Comparison of different types of coursebooks, discussions regarding their concepts. Literary education: 1. The interpretation of a text and basic questions of its practical application. 2. Familiarization with the variety of current coursebooks for secondary schools. 3. The adaptation of teaching materials for a specific concept and an educational strategy of the course. 4. Didactic interpretation in regards to traditional and alternative teaching methods, preparations and guidance of a literary communicative process in the terms of secondary schools. 5.
