Course objectives
In the course, students have the opportunity to develop their intercultural communicative competence in the field of professional German so that they are prepared to act appropriately in situations related to studying or working abroad (in German-speaking countries). Students will also learn about the rules of communication in specific multinational companies operating in the Czech Republic.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, students will be familiar with the basic requirements of formal communication that accompany study or work in German-speaking countries or multinational companies in the Czech Republic (principles of formal correspondence and telephoning) and will be able to take them into account when producing their own oral and written texts. In addition, learners will be prepared to react appropriately in the event of confusing or conflicting situations in a different socio-cultural environment.

  • Professional communication - principles of formal correspondence, telephone calls, meetings or online meetings In the workplace - internal communication and relationships at the workplace, dealing with unexpected and conflict situations (including guest speakers from multinational companies from the Czech Republic) New study or job opportunity (application materials - CV, motivation letter, interview)

Náhradní absolvování
Students on a study abroad program will have their ISP (Individual Study Plan) recognized, and they will be allowed to fulfill the requirements (after agreement with the instructors at the beginning of each semester) through distance learning. Possible recognition of the course (for a course at the host university) should be discussed with the lecturer before the start of the semester.
