Course objectives
The student based on the current valid curriculum documents and professional knowledge, the student will prepare a biology lesson. In the preparation of the teaching design, he/she applies partial procedures didactic transformations and uses a variety of teaching resources. As part of the course, the student learns to integrate a specific curriculum into the structure of curriculum documents, to correctly formulate educational educational objectives, develop inter-subject relationships, use various teaching resources, and construct lesson scenario.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
characterize the position of science and biology in the current curriculum curriculum documents
integrate a selected topic into the structure of curriculum documents
formulate educational objectives for a specific science or biology lesson
for a specific science or biology lesson, propose how to develop cross-curricular relationships
characterize the advantages and disadvantages of working with selected teaching resources
for a specific science or biology lesson, propose a sequence of methodological approaches (teaching scenario).
Syllabus
  • Curriculum documents of the Czech Republic. The position of biological and geological teaching in curriculum documents (4 hours)
  • Planning and preparation of teaching: teaching objectives, their types, and formulation principles (3 hours).
  • Planning and preparing teaching: resources for teaching science and biology. (3 hours)
  • Planning and preparing to teach: organizational and collaborative forms of teaching Science and Biology. (3 hours)
  • Planning and preparing to teach: methods of teaching science and biology. (3 hours)
  • Planning and preparing to teach: activating methods of teaching science and biology. (4 hours)

Teaching methods
Interpretation, simulation of teaching situations, explanation, work with the text, observation, working with the determination key, and working with the atlas.
Assessment methods
Credit test and oral discussion of the portfolio assignment.
Portfolio task: the didactic transformation of the selected topic (preparation for the lesson).
