Course objectives

The main objectives of the course are the following: acquainting students with the notation practice 1500 - 1800.

Learning outcomes

Students will be able to recognize basic types of notations.

Syllabus

1. introduction: an overview of the history of the development of notation, 2. notational practice of Gregorian chant, 3. modal notation, black mensural notation, 4. white mensural notation and tablature
