- Course objectives
- This seminar focuses on the characteristics of scholarly texts, priority attention will be paid to the characteristics of theses created at the Faculty of Arts of the Masaryk University.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course, student will be able:
- to identify the basic characteristics of scholarly texts;
- to structure the scholarly text and to meet its content requirements;
- to comply with requirements of the language and formal aspects of scholarly texts;
- to comply with the citation norm. - Syllabus
- The work in the course will be based on the use of authentic materials (namely from Czech studies) through which students will learn about the characteristics of scholarly texts. Besides, the exercises aimed to the development of students´ skills in stylization scholarly texts - their formal as well as content aspects - will be used, special attention will be paid to the citation norm. Students will also create their own scholarly texts (the focus will be on topics to prepare for a concrete one bachelor diploma thesis).

- The course consists of tutor´s explanations and own students´ activity.

- Students will receive their credits on the basis of following requirements: attendance, active participation in seminars and elaboration of all tasks awarded during the semester.
