- Course objectives
- Following the first semester of the translation seminar, focused on bases of translating related to infra-sentential levels of text, the aim of this course is to direct the attention of students to higher levels.
- Syllabus
- Students will exercise their ability to use different translation methods by doing translation and corrections of various short pragmatic (manuals, warranty conditions for appliances, information leaflets, tourist guide, accompanying texts for the exhibition ...) and journalistic texts.
- The key categories of this course are: semantic and pragmatic presuppositions, illocution structure of a text, functional equivalence, writing style and its factors.

- Teaching methods
- Apart from presenting the subject matter to students, the main teaching method used in this course is individual homework, written feedback by the teacher and a collective discussion on homeworks at the next lesson.
- Assessment methods
- Translation of a text and individual discussion thereon. Conditions for admission to the examination include: at least 85% attendance of lessons, timely submission of homeworks and knowledge of the obligatory books.
