- Course objectives
- Student develops and deepens knowledge of basic grammatical patterns, vocabulary and phraseology of modern spoken Japanese language; he/she is able to actively use the acquired grammar with respect to sociopragmatic factors of the Japanese communication.

- 3. Desiderative adjective hoshii, expressions of uncertainity
- 4. Deictic verbs (yarimorai dōshi), focusing particles
- 5. Numeral classifiers, volitional forms of predicatives
- 6. Constructions with the auxiliary oku, relative clauses
- 7. Auxiliary deictic verbs
- 8. Time expressions (using toki)

- Teaching methods
- Lecture according to the study materials, with focus on basic syntactic structures and sociopragmatic specifics of the Japanese language. Students also get acquainted with the basic terms of the Japanese linguistics. Additional explanation based on the results of short test is offered during the following lesson.
- Assessment methods
- Weekly tests, final written exam. Attendance of at least 70 % of the classes is required. Students are required to attend to one oral presentation of a group task.
