Course objectives
The aim of the course is to deepen students' clinical-psychological thinking, develop their ability to think comprehensively and critically about a wide range of diverse and current topics in the field of clinical psychology, and introduce them to specific case studies. Students will learn to understand how to effectively apply psychological theories and concepts to clinical practice across various areas.
Learning outcomes
Students will develop their clinical-psychological thinking and self-awareness through the knowledge and skills they acquire, which will help them become more perceptive and sensitive when working with clients. They will also strengthen their empathy, reflection, and self-reflection, and improve their communication and collaboration skills. They will be able to describe clients' feelings, experiences, and personality traits, and place them in the broader context of their lives, including cultural, social, and developmental influences. Students will become familiar with a wide range of specific areas they may encounter in clinical practice and will be able to integrate insights from theories and research into clinical practice, with an emphasis on adhering to ethical principles. They will be able to apply the knowledge gained in other courses, such as Psychological Assessment of Adults, Special Psychiatry, or Psychotherapy I and II.

Teaching methods
Lectures combined with discussions on specific topics and interactive seminars featuring participation from field experts.
Assessment methods
The course is conducted through lectures and seminars. Completion of seminar requirements is a prerequisite for taking the final oral exam.

Seminars
Meeting all seminar requirements is mandatory to qualify for the oral exam.
1. Attendance (80% attendance is required, one unexcused absence allowed).
2. Timely completion of all seminar tasks (each seminar will include one assigned task)
3. Points for seminar tasks - A minimum of 40 points (80%) is required to pass. Each task is worth a maximum of 10 points. The total maximum for all tasks is 50 points.
4. Seminar paper - A review of current research (structured summary of 5-7 studies from 2020 or later) on any clinical psychology topic of the students' choice.
- Recommended length: 6-8 standard pages.
- Submission deadline: November 3, 2024, 11:59 PM.
- Evaluation criteria: Adherence to recommended length. Formal structure (title page with identifying details, clear and logical organization, use of appropriate academic sources, and correct APA 7 citation in the text and bibliography). Quality of content: A critical synthesis of the selected studies is essential—merely summarizing findings and key information is insufficient. The work must compare and contrast the studies, highlighting similarities, differences, and potential reasons for these. The paper will be graded as "Accepted/Not Accepted." Feedback will be provided in the comments section. If the paper is rejected due to major deficiencies, it will be returned with feedback for revision.
5. Test on seminar topics:
- The test is in questionnaire format and has the same weight as seminar tasks. Time limit: 15 minutes. Structure: 20 questions. Each question has four options, with one, multiple, or all answers potentially correct. Some questions may require written answers (criteria will be provided, e.g., writing a Czech word with the ending "-í"). Fully correct answers are worth 1 point. Incomplete, partially correct, or incorrect answers receive 0 points. The score ranges from 0 to 20 points and will be considered during the oral exam.

Oral Exam
The course concludes with an oral exam graded A-F. To qualify, all seminar requirements must be completed. The exam is conducted in pairs and focuses on the topics covered during the course. The final grade will consider: Performance during the oral exam. Points earned for seminar tasks. Points from the test on seminar topics. The quality of the seminar paper.
