Course objectives
The course UCJJ04 is designed as the second semester of a two-semester course that gives students an insight into the didactics of Czech language and literature. After completing UCJJ04, students shall have even a better command of the basic methods and forms of teaching and be able to apply them appropriately to Czech language education both in the language as such and in stylistics. Emphasis is put on participatory methods, working with literary texts (indeed) and developing critical thinking. Selected methods of contemporary didactics are introduced and discussed in individual seminars and then, they are applied by students in their (real-life) micro-teachings, followed by a reflection. An integral part of the seminar is the preparation of lessons and other didactic materials; these materials are then stored and further worked with in the student's electronic portfolio.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student will be able to:
- select from a repertoire of teaching methods and forms a method and form suitable for the planned topic
- apply the method and forms of teaching well to the topic and grasp it didactically
- create a meaningful and varied lesson using the E-U-R method
- develop the habit of constant reflection on one's own teaching
- perceive their desire for further learning and ideally succumb to that

Teaching methods
Discussion of selected didactics topics, a presentation of a lesson (or a part of it), critical reflection of micro-teachings; reflection on teaching forms and methods and their critical evaluation. The course works with the principles of blended-learning, so the student’s work in the seminar is supported by the materials he/she has studied in advance in the interactive curriculum.
Assessment methods
For the combined form of study, the seminar is completed by a colloquium, full-time form of study is completed by an examination. Participation in the seminar assumes that the student has familiarized himself/herself with the assigned material in the interactive curriculum. The following requirements must be met for a successful completion of the course:
- Active participation in the seminar (max. 2 AWOL);
- A lesson plan for the micro-teaching, including appropriate and correctly formulated objectives and ways of their verification;
- Presentation of the assigned micro-teaching, including the use of the given teaching method (form);
- Oral examination or colloquium
