- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to analyse some important theories of intentionality designed for the analysis and interpretation of literary work. We will devote special attention to American analytic literary theory (E. D. Hirsch, P. D. Juhl, M. Hancher). The concept of intentionality will lead us to the examination of the distinction between meaning and significance of literary work. Extracts of particular literary texts will serve as the base for follow-up discussion.
