Course objectives
The seminar is focused on revision and systematic training of skills relating to contemporary Czech orthograohy. Attention will be paid to purely orthographical issues (capitalization) as well as to phenomena relating eg to the levels of morphology nad syntax. Each session is aimed at explanations and training concerning some particular issue/s.

  • 1. Usage, norm and codification 2. i/y and í/ý in roots and endings of words 3. Prepositions, prefixes and suffixes with particular regard to orthography 4. Punctuation in simple sentences 5. Punctuation in complex and compound sentences 6. Division of words, hyphenation 7. Capitalization 8. Abbreviations 9. Loan-words 10. Revision 11. Final test
