- Course objectives
- Psychology for teachers: Course offers theoretical as well as practical knowledge, methods for effective teaching to students, extending their qualification as certified teachers on primary and secondary schools. Tips to solve various educational problems will be presented. The course aims to expand understanding of pupils and also to oneself, to improve communication skills a to support chances of healthy co-operation of pupils as well as their teachers.
- Syllabus
- 1. Psychology among sciences. Psychology as a human science. Different kinds of psychology - general, specific and applied sciences. Psychology in education.
- 2. Research method in psychology Observation, experiment, interview, survey, anamnesis, test, sociometry.
- 3. Concepts and terms in psychology – mind, consciousness, unconsciousness, experience, behavior, action, personality etc.
- 4. Personality - concept and structure.
- 5. Psychological development. Environmental influences. Self-education.
- 6. Various ontogenetic stages. (Prenatal stage, newborn stage, infant stage, early childhood, pre-school age, school age, pubescence, adolescence, young-adults, middle-adults, mature-adults and old-age.)
- 7. Learning. Classification. Learning process. Learning curve. Intervening variables. Learning methods. Successful and unsuccessful students. Definition, classification and diagnosis of learning styles. Laws of learning. Autoregulation.
- 8. Imagination and creativity. Definition. Development of creativity. The creative process and its components. Creative process in school. Intellectually gifted children.
- 9. Unsuccessful students General aspects influencing the educational success. Causes of school failure. Typical and non-typical unsuccessful student. Educational and psychological intervention.
