Course objectives
Practical course of Serbian language with a focus on translating texts of various functional styles (journalistic, scientific, artistic, colloquial, bureaucratic) from Czech into Serbian. Students are able to practice written and spoken translation, to get to know the problems of translation of each functional style and learn to control their specifics and their translation technique.
Syllabus
  • Texts for the course are selected from the modern Czech literature, Czech daily newspapers (articles, reviews, political commentary, essay, etc.) and internet articles. A substantial part of texts for translation exercise are chosen by students according to their interests and preferences. Every lesson contains of translation and interpretation of one of the functional style texts.

Assessment methods
The course has a form of a class discussion. Maximum of 3 absence, homeworks, preparation of a short text for translation in the lesson, translation of 3 page (5400 characters with spaces) text from Czech to Serbian language, which should be sent together with the original until the end of the semester.
