Course objectives
The aim of this course is to present detective novels in Italian literature. Modern detective stories: Andrea Camilleri, Gianrico Carofiglio, Marco Malvaldi.
Syllabus
  • A short history of detective novels in Italian literature. Focus on three contemporary writers who are deeply bound to their native region: Andrea Camillery and Sicily, Gianrico Carofiglio and Apulia, Marco Malvaldi and Tuscany. Focus on stylistic and lexical elements with references to regional Italian.

Teaching methods
Lectures and class discussion together with video materials.
Assessment methods
Once enrolled in the course, attendance is mandatory (minimum 75%). Written exam. Two written short essays and 1 book review are requested during the course.
