- Course objectives
- The course offers a systematic overview of the basic phenomena of Modern Greek phonology, morphology and syntax. A part of the course is the practice of grammatical phenomenons. The main goal of the seminar is to deepen the students' knowledge of grammar that they learned about during their bachelor studies and also to enable them to discuss and write about the topics dealt with in the seminar. Another aim of the course is to enable students to understand more difficult Modern Greek texts and to translate texts from Modern Greek into Czech and simple texts from Czech into Modern Greek.
- Syllabus
- Grammar: Ellinika B, lesson 1 - 10. Verbs 1st and 2nd conjugation — complex overview, irregular verbs, irregular nouns, reflexive, relative, indefinite, demonstrative pronouns, deponent and reflexive verbs.
- Syntax: time clauses, reason clauses, interrogative clauses, indirect speech, Sequence of tenses, punctuation, units of weight and measurement.
- Topics: social relations, living, transportation, shopping, eating, weather, environment.

- Teaching methods
- The course is in the form of a seminar. Homework is required during the semester - students prepare assigned grammatical exercises and short translations from Modern Greek into Czech and vice versa.
- Assessment methods
- The requirement for passing the course is achieving a 70% on the final written test consisting of exercises aimed at testing the language skills, having 70% or higher attendance and active participation during the lectures.
